feeling low

We all have gloomy days. Days when your vibe is simply down in the dump. You do not exactly wish to be around friends, yet but your mood could do with a little facelift. Anytime you are feeling low, here are 10 things you can do by yourself to get your juices flowing again;

Go for a Walk

Sometimes a change of immediate surroundings is all you need. Try taking a stroll around the neighborhood to distract yourself for a while. While you’re at it, you could pay attention to things around, or simply plug in some earbuds and let music be your companion.

Watch a Movie

When your stars are refusing to align, maybe it’s time to get cozy and watch something interesting.

We all have a genre that gets our blood flowing. It could be Romcom, Thriller, Anime, whatever makes you happy. It doesn’t always have to be a new movie – it could be something you’ve watched before. As long as it engages your senses and makes you happy, you should be on your way to feeling great again.

Listen to Your Favorite Song

Maybe the screen isn’t your thing, but you love the sound of beats or you have a thing for lyrics. Find that particular playlist that makes your heart dance and knock yourself out. Some like rap, others prefer slow country and blues.

Whatever your taste bud, there’s always a flavor for you.

Treat Yourself

There are times when a little self care can turn things around. Go out to dinner and treat yourself. Book a pamper session. Get a massage, a pedicure, a facial, etc. You could also consider buying yourself something new like an accessory, a dress, or something you’ve been wanting for a while.

It doesn’t have to cost a fortune, the fact that you are doing something special for yourself, has the tendency to make you feel alive again.

Dress Up

The power of looks is often underrated. You would be surprised how your mood can shift from 0 to 10+ in a matter of seconds simply by how good you look.

It doesn’t matter if you have nowhere to go.

Wear your best outfit and simply check yourself out in the mirror. This practice creates a feel-good factor within and also boosts your confidence. That’s one way to remind yourself that you’re still the bomb, despite how you may be feeling at that particular moment.

Dance

There is a level of  excitement you can only get from moving your body to the rhythm of music. It doesn’t matter whether you are in the mood. Once you start moving, your mood will improve.

Not knowing how to dance is not an excuse either. Thankfully, there is no one around to watch or judge you, so knock yourself out.

Read a novel

Fiction is a world on its own. Every novel you pick ushers you into a whole new world you otherwise wouldn’t experience. So once a while, take the time to read. Choose a genre you enjoy and give yourself a chance to experience something new.

Go to the Beach

There is a form of relief that comes with hearing the sound of waves crash on the shore. If it is within your proximity, take a trip to the beach and simply watch and listen to the waves. Feel the sand underneath your feet and just breathe. You would notice how much lighter and better you feel when you leave there.

Read old texts from a Loved One

Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that you are loved and you matter a great deal to someone. One way to reinforce that feeling is to go back and read messages from a loved one. This gives you the reassurance that you mean a lot to someone.

Look in a Mirror and Smile

Smiling tricks the brain into thinking you are happy. In spite of how gloomy you may be feeling, smiling would make you feel heaps better. Take it a step further by looking in the mirror – an image of you smiling at yourself will invoke a feeling of pleasantness that will raise your vibration.

If you try these and the feelings still persist, maybe it’s time to talk to a friend or a trusted person.
